Environmental Health & Safety Courses

OSHA 8-Hour HAZWOPER Refresher

Fee: $110 (includes materials and certification)

This 8-hour Hazardous Waste Operator and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) course is designed to maintain the 40-hour or 24-hour Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) annual certificate required for employees in the public or private sector, large or small businesses, who work with hazardous waste from management operations to on-site clean-up. This course includes lectures, table top exercises, and hands-on activities. A certificate and a wallet card will be issued upon completion of the course.

Department of Transportation (DOT)/ Hazardous Materials Regulations

Fee: $110

This course covers the Department of Transportation (DOT) Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR) governing the transportation of hazardous substances. This course fulfills the DOT 49 CFR Hazardous Materials Transportation Awareness Training required by DOT and includes: using a hazardous materials table, preparing shipping papers, marking labeling, placard requirements, security awareness and site policies, handling emergencies, notification, identification and communication of hazards of transportation.

OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification

Fee: $430

This 40 hour course provides federal and state certification for those who work with hazardous waste for management operations, emergency response teams or trainers, and site cleanup. This course satisfies the requirements for generalized employee training under the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) 1910.120 and State of California Regulations 5192 Title 8.

Smog Technician Courses

Smog Check Update

Fee: $325

Learn advanced techniques for the repair and diagnostics of smog failures, as well as advanced drivability diagnostics. This course meets the 16 hours of automotive technology update training required every two years for license renewal. Cuyamaca College is at a BAR-Certified School.

Smog Citation

Fee: $250

BAR Certified 8 hour  training for licensed Smog Check Inspectors who have received a citation by the bureau.  As applicable, the training may include a quiz to confirm the training component, a review of the official inspection procedures, hands-on assessments using vehicles with emission control defects or tampers, and a final written exam. ** Dates of classes subject to change due to enrollment. California Advanced Lighting Controls Training Program Acceptance Test Technician (CALCTP-ATT) Course, 24 hours

Fee: $160 (includes materials and SDG&E tuition assistance)

The California Advanced Lighting Controls Acceptance Test Technician Course is a statewide initiative aimed at increasing the use of lighting controls in commercial buildings and industrial facilities. Acceptance testing is one part of a multi-stage compliance program that ensures newly constructed buildings and new construction in existing buildings conforms to energy-efficiency standards contained in the Title 24, Part 6 of the California Code of Regulations (CCR). This course prepares students for necessary certification testing.

Pre-requisite: CA State Certified General Electricians only with current valid license. Must have current CALCTP Admissions slip. Please see the CALCTP website for more details.
